Porttable Cesteira Red 2022
With a history spanning four generations, the Massa family has always been connected to the small village of Freixo de Espada à Cinta in the Douro Superior region, and to agriculture through the two estates that have remained in the family for decades: Quinta Arribas do Douro and Quinta d’Alva. Spanning a total area of 130 hectares, predominantly composed of vineyards and olive groves under traditional and organic farming, our estates are part of one of the most beautiful frontiers between Portugal and Spain, sharing their lower boundaries along 2 km with the Douro River, within the Douro International Natural Park.
It is in these estates that we harmoniously give soul to our raw materials, carefully transformed into our wines, olive oils, and gourmet products under the Arribas do Douro brand.
The grapes used in this wine come from old vines planted in schist soil at an average altitude of 350 to 400 meters in the region between Freixo de Espada à Cinta and Barca dʼAlva, in the Douro Superior.
These old vines are exposed to northeast and east orientations.
Fermentation is carried out by grape variety with separate processing to enhance precision in selecting the final blend that gives rise to this wine. Fermentation takes place in small-capacity stainless steel tanks, with controlled temperatures around 28°C. Maceration is carefully managed to achieve an aromatic, concentrated, and elegant wine. Aging occurs in small-capacity stainless steel tanks.
