Tasting Notes / Description
Versátil Red 2023 —Versatile Red Wine — A deep ruby color with violet hues characteristic of a young, unoaked wine. The aroma is intense and wild, immediately apparent: ripe strawberries and raspberries giving way to blackberries and plums, punctuated by a floral note and a hint of cured tobacco that distinguishes it from a typical fruity red. On the palate, it is smooth with tamed tannins, medium body, balanced acidity, and good persistence. Direct, correct, and well-structured — perfect for everyday enjoyment.

Casa Santa Vitória Versátil Red 2023

Versátil Red 2023 fromAlentejo red wine from Herdade de Santa Vitória, in Beja, with winemaking by Marta Maia, from approximately 130 hectares of own vineyards.

The name is not decorative, it’s the brief. The harvest is mechanical, the destemming is total, and fermentation occurs at a controlled temperature. There is no oak aging: the wine ages for six months in the bottle before being released to the market. It is this absence of barrel that explains the sharp fruit and soft tannins — and it’s a decision, not a cost-cutting measure, because in a red wine for everyday consumption, oak adds price and removes freshness.

The blend includes Touriga Nacional, Tinta Caiada, Trincadeira, and Aragonez, and is bottled at 14% alcohol.

Serve between 16°C and 18°C, no need to decant. At the table, it lives up to its name: it serves as an aperitif and pairs well with meats, oily fish, pasta, cheeses, and roasted vegetables. Drink young, within two to three years of the harvest—it’s not a wine for aging and doesn’t intend to be.

Distinctions: 15.5 points in Grandes Escolhas, by Luís Antunes in November 2025, and 15 points in Revista de Vinhos. In previous vintages, Silver Medal at the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles.
