Periquita Red 2022

Periquita wine is known as the first bottled red wine in Portugal. This innovation reflects its originality, and its reflection of Portuguese identity emerges from its presence on the tables of Portuguese people – all of us – since 1850.

In our Portuguese lifestyle! The wine produced at Cova da Periquita immediately proved to be the best in the region, leading other landowners to request plants of that grape variety from José Maria da Fonseca for their own properties.

This way, the wine became known in Azeitão as Periquita wine, later marketed by José Maria da Fonseca as Periquita. This wine undergoes fermentation at 28ºC. It ages for 6 months in new French and American oak barrels.
